From our earliest moments, we are wired for attachment— seeking a safe base in childhood, acceptance in adolescence, and intimacy in adulthood.  Yet despite our longing for connection, maintaining this bond over the years can be one of the hardest things we ask ourselves to do. Sometimes disconnection builds over months or years, as life changes and stressors put strain on a relationship that once felt secure.  Other times breaches of trust and attachment wounds create a sudden fissure, leaving us uncertain and questioning the path forward. 

As difficult as it is to be alone, the greatest pain is often feeling alone within a relationship, unable to truly reach our partner.  At Nurtured Self Counseling, we use Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) to help you identify the cycle you’re stuck in, explore the emotions underneath, and find a new path forward.
